Photographer Robert Kincaid wanders into the life of housewife Francesca Johnson for four days in the 1960s. "As directed by Eastwood, Bridges is a film of moments, not the least of which is the economical way that Streep wordlessly sketches out her character's ennui and sadness: a downward glance at a table, a flick of a curl, the smoothing out of a dress. Streep is an actress known for her uncanny ability with accents, but her quiet performance in"Bridges proves that she would have made a world-class silent-film star, too.'' Gene Siskel
